news-article-image-GLF73510.jpgThe GLF73510 IQSmart IC is designed to virtually eliminate wearable and IoT device battery discharge during standby or deep-sleep operation. The GLF73510 consumes an industry-leading ultra-low leakage current (ISD) of 2 nA (typ.), as much as 1,000 times less than other chips commonly used in this application. The bidirectional switch offers a turn-on threshold to prevent a battery from deep discharge and includes an internal pull-down resistor.

Digi-Key Electronics, which offers the world's largest selection of electronic components in stock for immediate shipment, announced that it has expanded its product portfolio to include a global distribution partnership with GLF Integrated Power, Inc. GLF Integrated Power provides breakthrough, ultra-efficient, ultra-small, silicon power control and protection integrated circuits (ICs) to the IoT, smart wearable, TWS earbuds, smart medical device, automotive, smartwatch optical modules, asset tracking, and home security markets.

Santa Clara, CA.— October 8, 2019 —GLF Integrated Power, a leading producer of innovative ultra-low-power IQSmart™ load switch ICs for portable and wearable electronics, introduces the GLF74130, a two-input Power Mux IC that offers significant efficiency improvement over traditional diode-based solutions. The tiny (1.27 mm x 1.67 mm) Wafer Level Chip Scale Packaged (WLCSP) Power Mux IC provides automatic/manual selection between two 1.5V to 5.5V input power sources with up to 4.5A continuous output current. The device’s small footprint and industry-leading combination of low RON (20 mΩs), low supply current (4 µA), and ultra-low standby current (50 nA) offer an exceptional solution for smart IoT devices and IoT tracking systems.

Santa Clara, CA.— April 26, 2018 —GLF Integrated Power, a leading producer of innovative ultra-low-power battery protection ICs for portable and wearable electronics, introduces the GLF76321 IQSmart™ IC with “Deep Sleep” power conservation mode. While in this mode, the device operates with a typical standby current (ISD) of just 7nA – which is negligible compared to the typical self-discharge of Li-ion batteries. By virtually disconnecting the battery during shipment and storage, the GLF76321 enables products to operate immediately out of the box without the need for recharging.

Wearable and IoT devices are seeing a sharp rise in demand. Consumers expect smaller devices with more features as well as fewer interruptions and at lower prices. Thus, system designers are challenged to come up with ever more compact, lightweight products that have a longer battery life.

This White Paper addresses the latest available technologies and design practices that can decrease the power consumption and increase the battery life of wearable devices. It also describes the devices that designers need to consider when creating a low-power wearable system.
